Philip is an expert in cases relating to the regulation of sports grounds.
He is Leading Counsel for Sheffield City Council in the Inquests into the Hillsborough disaster, which looked at the safety certification of the ground under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975.
He has advised Chelsea Football Club in relation to licence fees for their grounds, and has also advised in relation to Wembley Stadium, Twickenham and the Millennium Stadium.
Philip has a special interest in the cost of policing and other controls in relation to leading sports stadia and has advised public authorities in this field.
In 2016, Philip was appointed to the Board of the Sports Grounds Safety Authority.
